Buying Raw Goat Milk
FAQs
I don't have questions... I just want milk!
We have a milk agreement that must be signed for anyone wanting to access raw milk from our homestead.
Currently, we have less milk than our community's demand so we are not taking new members. Please check back with us as this may change in the future.
Is the goat milk raw?
It sure as heck is! Pasturized milk tastes & smells funny. It just simply isn't for us. We're not so sure it's for our gut biome either.
Why do I need a contract?
Because accessing raw milk (as in real food) can sometimes feel like conducting a drug deal.
There are funny laws & regulations that make it difficult for consenting adults to access raw milk unless they have a contract between the parties.
How much does it cost & how do I pay?
We offer our milk in 1/2 gallon & quart glass canning jars with leak proof lids. The price is $9 per 1/2 gallon or $5 per quart. There is a $5 jar/lid deposit for each jar you purchase your first time. For subsequent purchases, you will just swap out empties. We accept cash, Venmo (@real_food), & CashApp ($SperoHomestead).
There is an envelope for making change available on the side of the cooler at the Homestead.
Where do I pick up milk?
Currently, we are only offering farm pickup and because this is the low voume season, we do not have chèvre available.
Do I have to get milk every week?
You do not, but it is far easier for us to plan for regular weekly customers. We know that doesn't always work for everyone.
Please understand that when seasonal supply gets low we prioritize weekly customers with children & folks who have been with us for years.
